Enroute to Monument Valley we detoured off hwy 191 west onto hwy 95 where we briefly considered Natural Bridges National Monument but decided we didn't have time for that but did have time for Muley Point & Goosenecks overlooks.
Moe's 4x4 didn't mind the rough road as much as my van did... it was worth the rattley drive out.
It's a fine view out over Monument Valley & would have been an interesting place to enjoy the sunset.
As common as they are I still love seeing these little lizards. Saw a small snake here too but he was way too fast for even an ID never mind a shot.
The drive down to connect with 161 was a steep set of gravel switchbacks & soon we were on good pavement again.
Mexican Hat
60-foot (18 m) wide by 12-foot (3.7 m) thick , perched rock that supposedly has two climbing routes up it. It was worth a short stop.

A note scribbled on the days log reminding me of a road sign somewhere near Monticello UT. It was one of those big electric signs that hiways use to warn of construction etc. & can have multiple messages as you approach. This one said "DEER ON ROADWAY" & then "DEAD OR ALIVE". Weird.
