Mt. Sparrowhawk

An 'easy' scramble to a 10,000' peak. July 26, 2008.
Mt. Sparrowhawk 3121m elevation, +-12km, 1600m gain including Read's Tower.

Read's Tower with the Spray Valley in the background.
In retrospect the extra 250m should have been saved for another day, perhaps tied in with Sparrowhawk Tarns, but it was still a cool view. The scrambly bit.

View up at Mt. Sparrowhawk summit block... a long talus slog.
Read's Tower on right, Mt. Sparrowhawk summit block on left.

I didn't linger at the top, part of our party did not summit so I didn't want to hold them up, especially since despite using low gear all the way up so as not to bonk, my right knee was telling me stories most of the way down. Nasty nasty stories.

I'll get back to more photos of Lake of the Falls etc. soon.

Lake of the Falls

“Time is the quality of nature that keeps events from happening all at once. Lately it doesn’t seem to be working.” Anon.

Ran across this quote and it seemed appropriate as I wrap up work at almost 8pm…
Anyway this photo, just got back from our father and sons backpacking trip to Lake of the Falls / Landslide Lake July 18-21, 2008 which put an exclamation point in the middle July for us. It is looking back down towards Lake of the Falls from our side-trip day up the valley and Lake of the Falls Lookout. I’ll post more pics and descriptions upcoming… just had a quick blast thru the photos on a break and this one stood out as being fairly representative of the country we traveled thru. And I think it’s a pretty good shot too!
