When the kids were small they would yell "The cripping lights are on, the cripping lights are on!!" and run to the window when the timer for the outside Christmas lights would go on in the evening. This year it was so warm in November I had a hard time getting motivated to put them up at all. It is after all the sort of thing you have to do in the cold. Hope everyone is having a good holiday. Aside from time with family and friends I have got in one quick blast up Prairie Mountain on Dec 27 and hope to get out skiing with the boys down to Fernie tomorrow. Snow on the hills, not on the roads… Snow on the hills, not on the roads I say!
Also debating a ‘Best of 2008’ post. I’ll put it on the list. Look for it around March sometime at the rate I’m going.

Back in Black
So the project is processing and printing photos back to Nov 2006 (yes finally getting my feet back on the floor this winter, thanks for asking...) Using Adobe Lightroom 2.1... loving it. But it wouldn't be me if it didn't morph into a side tangent or two.
I give you high contrast B&W.

Volleyball 2008
A few of my shots from Eric's 2008 Volleyball season. For having last volleyball season off to heal a dislocated shoulder he became a pretty good setter.

Nihahi Ridge
An easy scramble / ridgewalk November 2, 2008.
Nihahi Ridge, +-2350m, 17km, +-800m gain. Fairly straight forward ridge-walking ending with a descent down Nihahi creek which was dry but provided a mini canyoneering adventure down the slippery polished rock creek bed. A cool start to the day but an uncharacteristic +16 by the time I got back to the truck.
Incidentally this was a reward to myself for finally finishing my revised CLD portfolio. The final push was a 13 hour day in the office on Saturday to finish the schedules and check everything for errors. Bug eyes!!

Calendar Worthy
I recently submitted some photos to a hiking forum that I frequent where the various submissions were voted on for the annual calendar. I was pleased that one of my Michele Lakes shots was chosen for November 2009.
My user name on that site is 'Sodbuster' and its a great site for hiking info & inspiration plus some of the other members are great photographers who don't mind sharing some tips now and then.

Highwood Pass - Larch
Highwood Pass ramblings… Sunday Oct 5, 2008. +-10 km, +-750m elevation.
My annual trip to the mountains when the Larch are in fall color mode. A touch late this year but still worth the trip even with the snow showers and low ceiling.
A shot back from just west of Longview. Love that view, the yellow this time courtesy the Aspens.
